The Name, "White Night,' refers to the night in prison where the light bulb never goes out 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Since 2000, Dr. Sheenyoung Kang has been guiding selected long-term inmates of Chungsong correctional facility to be born again and to shed their past lives. The inmates in the group, White Night, in South Korean prison have been studying hard to stimulate and to improve their artistic senses along with developing their inner characters and social skills.

Each year, White Night exhibition serves to showcase an aspect of their hard works and studies under the white fluorescent lights of the prison illuminating 24 hours a day - White Night. Every artwork from the exhibition is for sale. The entire sales are saved in each artist¡¯s name to be used as a stepping stone for their new life when they re-enter the society.
